So I'm working on another birthday card. I liked the one I made for my brother with a serene picture of his cat on the front, so I thought I'd continue with the pet-theme for my dad by drawing him our chinchilla. I don't have any photos of him, so I tried looking up chin pictures on the internet. All chinchillas look pretty much the same, right?

Why are all the chinchillas on the internet so fat?

I KNOW our Orian is not that fat. And his coat is much prettier! Stupid unhelpful google image...

I really wanted to visit my family this weekend, as I have not seen them in a month, but I didn't have any source of transportation. This makes me sad, as I am quite homesick. I may not get an opportunity to return home until next month. ;_;

So I've been working on a new comic strip. One for which a title is difficult to create, apparently.

I'm basing the character designs off of doodles I drew during class time, and the subject matter is based on my own ineptitude in social situations... (i.e. I panic a lot). I'm spending more time on each strip than I would normally because I want it to look nice. Also, I'm testing out some new techniques... expanding my horizons and whatnot. I can't get any better if I draw everyone from the same 3/4 angle, now can I?

... I'm hoping all this practice will improve my ability.

This is... an odd stereotype for Finns...

Yet I cannot deny my love for cute, blushing things.

My mom and I think that Sweden and Finland should switch personalities, but we're, like, third... forth generation Finnish? What the heck do WE know?

I shouldn't be thinking stereotypes are cute in the first place! I feel so guilty...

Like I need this on finals week...

It's finals time, by the way.

I caught the flu at some point, somehow. Been bedridden for the past four days. Today I can sit up! I'm using my new, abundant free time to recover and read the new books I got for Christmas. I had wanted to finish some paintings I did, but, well... I don't even have energy for that right now. My paints are upstairs and... well, climbing stairs... not gonna happen.

I did get two visits from Pine Cone, which was nice but a little saddening. Hard to be entertaining when you can't lift your head up. He was a good sport, though. Got me some water when I needed it... nice guy. It's not fair that I missed my chance to be with him because I was sick, though. *grr*



To Baka-- I'm glad you like your journal. I don't think we can get together again, as a group... The crows seem busy. They're going to Oregon soon and I need to get to work on my comics. I slacked off because I was ill.

Boh. Comics.

If you can get ahold of Panda, I'll see if I can hang out with the two of you. We could go to the comic shop and hang out or something. I should feel well by Monday. We'll see.
